Low-cost, temporary retail installations from the past became the pop-up shops that creatively infiltrate urban landscapes today. Their arrival is unexpected, almost magical—and delighted passersby are greeted with something unique, transforming humdrum transactions into experiences to share. And sharing has become even more ubiquitous through social media. No wonder, then, global businesses from Target to Google have adopted this stealth tactic over the last decade.
